Background Information
The Development Bank of Rwanda (BRD) Plc is Rwanda’s only National Development Bank mandated to support Rwanda’s Vision 2050 development agenda. 1. Background Information
Job Title: Senior Specialist Legal Counsel, Legal Transactions
Current Grade: JG F- Senior Specialist
Divisions/ Department: Legal Department
Reporting to: Manager, Legal Transactions
Direct Report: N/A
Indirect Reports: N/A
2. Contract Terms - Open-Ended
3. Purpose of the Job and main responsibilities
The purpose of the job is to support the office of the Director of Legal Affairs by providing advancedlegal advisory services in all contractual tasks related to a business matter the Bank is involved in.
The main responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Provide legal advisory services on complex transactions and contractual matters.
- Draft, review, and negotiate legal documents to safeguard the Bank’s interests.
- Conduct and supervise legal due diligence exercises for high-value or sensitive transactions.
- Monitor and interpret changes in laws and regulations, advising on their impact on the Bank’s operations.
- Prepare and submit reports to the Manager as required.
5. Working relationships
Internal: All departments (collaborating on legal aspects of transactions and operations).
External: Regulators, and other stakeholders as required
6. Professional, academic qualifications, and experience
- Bachelor’s degree in law (master’s degree is an added advantage).
- Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice.
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in transactional law practice.
7. Core competencies
- Strong expertise in transactional law and contract negotiation.
- In-depth knowledge of Rwandan laws and judicial processes.
- Excellent drafting, analytical, writing, and communication skills.
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
