Introduction

CARE Austria, together with CARE International in Rwanda (CARE Rwanda), in partnership with DUHARANIRE AMAJYAMBERE Y’ICYARO (DUHAMIC-ADRI) are implementing KUNGAHARA: Resilient Systems for Food and Nutrition, running between 1^st January 2024 and 31^st December 2026, funded by the European Union and co-funded by the Austrian Development Cooperation. In line with the EU’s global objective of the KUNGAHARA Call for proposals, the overall objective of the project is to strengthen resilient food systems and nutrition security in Rwanda. To tackle the different factors hindering food availability and nutrition, the project will enact locally-led and owned change at every stage of the food system – production, aggregation, processing, distribution and consumption – through two complementary supply and demand outcomes:

Outcome 1: Equitable, sustainable, inclusive, productive and nutrition sensitive agricultural value chains in Gicumbi, Rulindo and Gakenke districts are strengthened; and

Outcome 2: The consumption of diverse and nutrient rich foods by vulnerable households, in particular women and children, in Gicumbi, Rulindo and Gakenke district is increased.  

The project is targeting 31,000 small holder farmers and will use a holistic set of interventions to enhance food systems in a sustainable manner, equipping women and youth farmers ‘groups and cooperatives within the selected environment and nutrition-sensitive value chains with the skills, connections, and support to improve production and access to markets, and as a result, nutritious food availability and increase its consumption.

Context and needs of justification

Through the National Child Development Agency, the Rwandan government has been promoting cooking demonstration at cell level so that the local communities understand how to fight malnutrition and stunting using affordable food available locally. However, these sites and cooking sessions are in many cases not operational. The project’s outcome 2 will come to build on and strength the government initiative, mapping and reactivating existing cooking demonstration sites and installing new ones, and organizing demonstration sessions for farmers and communities led by nutrition Champions. In this regard, the Project will equip cooking materials to Nutrition Champions that will support them in the provision of cooking demonstration session.

In the same context, DUHMAIC-ADRI would like to procure cooking materials for cooking demonstration sites to support farmers and communities to acquire different cooking demonstration session led by nutrition Champions. These Cooking kits include Sauce pan 20l, Plate melamine, Soup Spoon, Cup melamine, Ladles Spoon 20cm, Kitchen knife, Sieves, Plastic Jug 2L and Register.

Scope of Work

The selected supplier is expected to deliver the following items:

• Sauce Pan 20l:  300 Pieces with high quality
• Plate Melamine: 3000 Pieces with high quality
• Soup Spoon: 3000 Pieces wi1th high quality
• Cup Melamine: 2550 Pieces with high quality
• Ladles Spoon 20cm: 300 Pieces with standard quality
• Kitchen knife: 150 Pieces with high quality
• Plastic Jug 2l: 150 Pieces with high quality
• Register: 150 Pieces with standard quality

Expected Deliverables:

The expected deliverables from the selected firm/company include:

• Supply and delivering of high-quality cooking materials to provide to Nutrition champions, and those materials must be in line with mentioned specification (all items must be delivered to DUHAMIC-ADRI headquarters in Kicukiro district.
• Documentation and manuals for equipment operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

Requirements for bidders

Interested firms/companies are invited to submit their offer contain the following:

• Application letter addressed to DUHAMIC-ADRI Executive Secretary;
• Copy of the company registration certificate;
• At least two certificates of good completion for similar services;
• Proof of using EBM
• Visit certificate testifying that the bidder has visited the sample’
• Commitment letter of the bidding company to implement planned activities with the period not exceeding one week (5 calendar days) countable one day after signature of the contract.

Note: A mandatory sample visit will be conducted from Tuesday, September 17, 2024, to Monday, September 23, 2024, during working hours (08:00 AM to 05:00 PM) at DUHAMIC-ADI headquarters (Kicukiro, Niboye)
