UN Women Background:
The African Girls Can Code Initiative (AGCCI) is an initiative commissioned by UN Women, the African Union Commission (AUC) and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) with the aim to train and empower a minimum of 2000 young girls aged between 17-25, across Africa to become computer programmers, creators and designers, placing them on track to take up studies and pursue careers in the information, communication and technology (ICT), education and coding sectors. The initiative has two key strategies namely: coding camps and mainstreaming ICT, coding and gender into the national curricula. Moreover, it promotes the implementation of national media campaigns involving role models (e.g., women in ICT, female teachers in schools) and utilizes an on-line platform to support networking among the girls, trainers and mentors.

AGCCI’s goal is to ensure African girls benefit from and contribute to their countries and continent’s technological revolution. With this view, each Member State and partners operating at national level play instrumental role by bridging the gender digital divide and ensure that women and girls are well acquainted with digital technologies as users and contributors to the development of the digital ecosystem. Through AGCCI, Member States are expected to mainstream ICT and gender in national curriculums and ensure all African girls in rural and urban areas access opportunities to learn new digital skills such as coding as well as soft skills. In addition, national coding camps will be coordinated in each pilot country to equip the young girls with different coding skills and spark their interest in ICT. Furthermore, through national level media campaigns, Member States and partners will work to raise awareness on the role and contribution of women and girls in ICT and bring lasting normative change.

The AGCCI initiative which is entering phase2 kicked off with a Training of Trainers (TOT) conducted in April 2022 in Dar es salaam-Tanzania, which brought a pool of trainers from the 11 selected countries for phase 2 (Burundi, DRC, Kenya, Mali, Mozambique, Niger, Rwanda, Senegal, South Africa, Uganda and Tanzania). The training focused on standardized training modules to be implemented in respective national coding camps in 2022 and 2023.
In this regard, UNWOMEN has secured funds for the organization of the first African Girls Can Code Initiative (AGCCI) boot camp for Rwanda to be held on 17-28 April 2023 and is seeking services of an audio-visual company to document the coding bootcamp.
The Consulting company will work together with the project team and the Communications Team to document the bootcamp through high quality photography and highlight reels, capturing interesting sound bites from trainees, speakers, and testimonials.

Objective
The main objective of the assignment is to document the AGCCI coding bootcamp including capturing experiences and testimonies from the girls, trainers, key speakers and partners during the AGCCI coding camp.

Description of Responsibilities
Key deliverables
• Produce 3minute short summary videos of the 60 girls in AGCCI.
• Document 1-3 minutes highlight story of the girls
• 5-7minute overall summary video documentary of the AGCCI to upload on UN Women Africa YouTube channel.
• Provide 30-50 select action photos of the trainees, participants and key partners including the launch and closing of AGCCI.
Specific tasks:
• Produce a summarized documentary of AGCCI sourcing appropriate English narration as well as subtitles.
• Provide 10 edited and action photos for live tweeting and 30 more edited photos to the UN Women Communications Team.
• Select and provide high quality photos, 50 in total to upload on UN Women Flickr.
• Produce stories & testimonials of the 60 girls
Notes:
• Footage must be delivered in internationally recognized file formats for distribution purposes to partners and donors. Dropbox or any other File sharing service is acceptable for sharing of footage for review purposes only.
• Mandatory inclusions: Government of Rwanda, UN Women, Siemens, AGCCI and African Union

6. Duration of contract and Duty Station:
The duration of the contract is 15 working days starting on 17 April and ending 28 April 2023


7. Company Qualifications
• Applications are sought from a suitably qualified company which presents a minimum of 2 professionals who have bachelors’ degree in journalism, communication, or B.A. degree in Visual Arts.
• The company must demonstrate at least 5 years of professional experience and track record in professional photography and videography evidenced by a substantial consultancy experience with a record of providing high-quality, creative, images for clients (at least 3 links as proofs of completed similar work from recent assignments (between 2019-2022).
• The technical proposal including the methods and timeline should be realistic.
• The Proof that the company has office, equipment’s and required services to produce the video.
• Ability to deliver within timelines provided.

8. Ethical considerations
The company should include statements in the proposal on how it will ensure ethics from the commencement of the assignment and during the field work. The company is expected to take consent of the respondents and/or children’s guardian before taking photographs and ask if their photographs, verbatim or case stories could be used in report and for public dissemination. Such consent must be documented and submitted to UN Women along with the final copy of the video.

9. Terms of payment
The company will get full payment upon receipt of all agreed audio-visual materials.
10. Proprietary Rights
The company shall not either during the term or after termination of the contract, disclose any proprietary or confidential information related to the service without prior written consent. Ownership of all video products shall rest with UN Women.

Submission Procedure
Interested companies are requested to submit Technical and Financial proposals. Technical proposal should contain application letters, CVs, copies of academic credentials of at least 2 consultants as well as a technical proposal document including the client understanding of intended Scope of Work. The financial offer should indicate the total budget in the proposal with detailed breakdown including applicable taxes.
