KE6-Hydrologist
Description
Identification of critical catchment characteristics
Modelling of Critical hydrological sub-systems and the Kinoni, Bikwi and Karago Close
coordination with the hydrogeologist for the diagnostic, the modelling and the proposal
of scenarios, considering water catchment and land restoration approaches.
The expert will report to the RWB, EU and the VCRP team.
• Qualifications required:
Minimum requirements: Master’s degree in hydrology, or water resources assessment Assets: Proven knowledge in landscape restoration in Africa.
• Language skills: Minimum requirements: Excellent English communication skills both orally and in writing; at least C-1 level proficiency in English Assets: At least B-2 level proficiency in French
Professional experience required:
• General professional experience: Minimum requirements:
• At least 5 years of relevant experience in hydro-logical modelling and catchment Masterplan At least 3 years of relevant experience in monitoring and processing of hydro-meteorological data Assets: 10 years experience will be an asset Experiences in hydraulic infrastructures and "hydraulique douce" will be an asset;
Experiences in African countries will be an asset
• Specific professional experience: Relevant experiences (at least 5 years cumulative) in : -data consistency checking;
• -water balance studies;
• -statistical analysis of rainfall;
• -advanced hydro logical modelling and environment flow assessment.
• He/she should have conducted at least five similar assignments related to hydro logical investigations preferably in data scarce areas

JOB DETAILS:
KE5-Hydraulic structure engineer
Description
The expert will be in charge, in collaboration with
the team leader and the expert team, of the initial and detail designs of the flood control
measures, and elaboration of the tender file.
Additional information: The expert will report to the RWB, EU and the VCRP team.

Qualifications required:
Master's degree and Postgraduate qualifications in hydraulic structure engineering
Professional experience required:
General professional experience:
• Minimum Requirement: at least 10 years of practical experience in dam design, dam operation optimization and hydraulic structure design Assets: Experiences in Sub-saharan countries using scarce data will be an advantage. Specific professional experience:
• 5 relevant references of similar assignments;
• 2 Proven experiences in "Hydraulique douce"/"soft" hydraulics and detention ponds, dykes, small dams design 2 Proven experiences in hydraulic infrastructures supervision Assets:
• Preferably with experience in Nature Based solutions. Language skills: Minimum requirements: Excellent English communication skills both orally and in writing; at least C-1 level proficiency in English Assets:

JOB DETAILS:
KE3-Field Operation and Cave identification specialist
Description
Global objective
The objective of this assignment is to analyse and understand the hydrological and hydrogeological dynamic of the Kinoni watershed (including the Mugogo lowland area) including modeling to inform the impact of the flood control measures and suggest appropriate measures (including land restoration). On this basis, scenarios to mitigate the challenges identified are proposed and initial detailed studies and the related tender documents are elaborated in order to obtain a submission-ready “Detailed design”, including the necessary supporting information, in accordance with the World Bank Environmental and social safeguards.

• Qualifications required:
Bachelor degree qualifications in civil engineering, hydraulic structure engineering or in geology.
Language skills:
• Minimum requirements: Good English communication skills both orally and in writing; at least C-1 level proficiency in English Assets: At least C-1 level proficiency in Kinyarwanda.
• Professional experience required:
• General professional experience: At least 3 years of practical experience in Rwanda in civil engineering, preferably linked with hydraulic infrastructures
• Specific professional experience: Proven experiences (at least 2) in design of hydraulic structure engineering (detention ponds, dykes, small dams)
• Proven experiences in cave identification Assets:

JOB DETAILS:
KE2-Hydrogeologist

Description
The expert will be in charge of the identification of critical catchment characteristics, including a detailed hydro-geological description of Mugogo caves and lowland to be performed using the more relevant field reconnaissance.
He will also insure the hydro-geological modelling part.
The expert will report to the Rwanda Water Board. He will also report to the EU, including the Volcanoes Community Resilience Project team (BEI, WB, etc...)

Qualifications required:
• Minimum requirement: He/She should hold a Master degree or postgraduate qualifications in Hydrogeology or Geology Assets:
• Preferably with experience with Cave hydrology, Ground water movement in igneous and metamorphic rocks, Karstic groundwater and isotope hydrology.
Language skills: Minimum requirements:
• Excellent English communication skills both orally and in writing; at least C-1 level proficiency in English Assets:
At least B-2 level proficiency in French.
Professional experience required:
