Job Objective

To lead and oversee all business operations within the country, ensuring alignment with the organization’s strategic objectives. The role is responsible for driving business growth, managing financial performance, overseeing project delivery, and building strong relationships with clients, partners, and regulatory authorities. The Country Manager ensures compliance with local regulations while reporting to the company’s headquarters.

Scope of Oversight

Reporting Line

  • Reports to: Managing Partner / Partner-in-Charge (Architecture)
  • Supervises: Entire country team

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and implement country-level business strategies aligned with overall organizational goals.
  • Adapt business plans to local market dynamics and growth opportunities.

Operational Management

  • Oversee day-to-day operations across departments including design, finance, marketing, and administration.
  • Ensure efficient coordination and performance of all functional units.

Project Oversight

  • Monitor project execution to ensure delivery within scope, budget, and timelines.
  • Ensure high-quality design outputs and compliance with client requirements and technical standards.

Financial & Compliance Management

  • Develop and manage annual budgets; monitor financial performance including revenue, costs, receivables, and payments.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable local laws, regulations, and industry standards (including building codes and statutory requirements).
  • Drive achievement of financial targets and profitability.

Office & Administrative Leadership

  • Oversee the overall running of office operations including administration, finance, and human resources matters.
  • Ensure effective utilization of resources and operational efficiency.

Business Development & Market Expansion

  • Lead business development initiatives including client acquisition, tendering, and partnerships.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, partners, and key stakeholders.
  • Identify and pursue cross-border opportunities within the region (including Burundi, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, and DRC).

Technical & Design Oversight

  • Provide guidance on design work, drawing preparation, and project execution.
  • Ensure innovation, creativity, and adherence to professional and technical standards.

Stakeholder Representation

  • Represent the organization in engagements with private, corporate, and government stakeholders.
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies and advisors on tax, statutory, and compliance matters.

Qualifications and Experience

Education

Experience

  • Minimum of 10 years’ relevant experience, with at least 5 years in a senior management or leadership role.

Professional Membership

  • Membership in relevant professional bodies (e.g., architecture, engineering, or business institutes) is an added advantage.
