The University has its headquarters in Nyagatare District and a branch campus in Remera, Gasabo District, near the Airtel Building and across from Amahoro Stadium.
EAUR is seeking qualified and experienced professionals to join its team in the following positions.
LECTURER – HOSPITALITY
1 Position | Nyagatare Campus
Job Summary
The Lecturer will deliver high-quality theoretical and practical instruction in Hospitality Management while contributing to research, student supervision, academic advising, industry engagement, curriculum development, and University activities.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Learning
- Prepare and deliver high-quality lectures, practical sessions, and other learning activities.
- Develop course outlines, lesson plans, presentations, teaching materials, and practical activities.
- Implement approved curriculum and course content effectively.
- Use teaching methods that encourage participation, critical thinking, creativity, and practical skills.
- Relate theoretical concepts to real-world hospitality-industry practices.
- Keep updated on developments, technologies, trends, and best practices in hospitality.
Assessment
- Prepare and administer appropriate assessments.
- Mark and provide feedback on students' work.
- Maintain accurate assessment records.
- Participate in examination invigilation, moderation, and other assessment activities.
Research & Publication
- Conduct research in Hospitality Management and related fields.
- Participate in research projects addressing current hospitality and tourism challenges.
- Publish research findings in recognised academic journals and other scholarly platforms.
- Participate in conferences, seminars, workshops, and research forums.
- Seek research collaborations and funding opportunities.
- Support students in developing research skills.
Student Supervision
- Provide academic advising and mentorship.
- Supervise student projects, dissertations, research papers, and other academic assignments.
- Guide students in research-topic selection, proposal development, data collection, and analysis.
- Monitor students' academic progress and performance.
Internship & Practical Training
- Monitor students' progress during internship and industrial training.
- Participate in internship supervision visits.
- Review students' internship reports, logbooks, and related documentation.
- Collect feedback from students and industry supervisors.
- Organise and supervise practical sessions in areas such as food production, food and beverage service, housekeeping, front office, events, and hospitality operations.
- Establish professional relationships with hotels, restaurants, tourism organisations, event companies, and other hospitality businesses.
- Participate in industry visits, field trips, guest lectures, and practical-learning activities.
Academic & Professional Duties
- Participate in curriculum development and review.
- Attend departmental, faculty, and University meetings.
- Participate in academic committees and institutional activities.
- Support University policies, regulations, and academic procedures.
- Continuously update professional and academic knowledge.
- Participate in professional development activities.
- Support community engagement and professional-service activities.
- Promote a safe, inclusive, respectful, and professional learning environment.
- Perform other academic, administrative, research, or professional duties assigned by management.
Qualifications & Experience
- Master's degree in Hospitality or a related field, as specified in the vacancy announcement.
- At least 3 years' relevant experience.
- Strong teaching, research, communication, and student-supervision skills.
- Practical knowledge of the hospitality industry is an advantage.
- Ability to combine theoretical teaching with practical industry-based learning.
