Profile of DUHAMIC-ADRI
DUHAMIC -ADRI is a Kinyarwanda acronym that stands for Duharanira Amajyambere y’Icyaro.
Translating to ‘’ we strive for the development of the rural community ‘’in English. It is a non-profit organization located in Kigali, the capital city of Rwanda, within the kicukiro district, Niboye sector.it was established in 1979 by a group of Rwandans who identified the crucial need for rural development in the country.
DUHAMIC-ADRI is a Non-Governmental Organization legally granted by Rwandan law and legally recognized by the Ministerial Order No. 943 of July 12, 1985. Its statutes were amended and accepted by the Ministerial OrderNo.025/11of21th March 2005. With the vision to have « A rural world responsible for its self-socio-economic development », DUHAMIC-ADRI has a mission of « Supporting integrated development through the initiatives of the rural population in their struggle for self-development». DUHAMIC-ADRI’s interventions reaches 27 districts of Rwanda as follow: Kicukiro, Nyarugenge, Burera, Gakenke, Gicumbi, Musanze, Rulindo in Northern Province; Gisagara; Huye; Kamonyi; Muhanga; Nyamagabe; Nyanza; Nyaruguru and Ruhango in South Province; Nyabihu; Nyamasheke; Rubavu; Rusizi and Rutsiro of Western Province and then Gatsibo; Kayonza; Kirehe; Ngoma; Nyagatare and Rwamagana of Eeastern Province.
Project background
CARE Austria, together with CARE International in Rwanda (CARE Rwanda), in partnership with DUHARANIRE AMAJYAMBERE Y’ICYARO (DUHAMIC-ADRI) are implementing KUNGAHARA: Resilient Systems for Food and Nutrition, running between 1st January 2024 and 31st December 2026, funded by the European Union and co-funded by the Austrian Development Cooperation. In line with the EU’s global objective of the KUNGAHARA Call for proposals, the overall objective of the project is to strengthen resilient food systems and nutrition security in Rwanda. To tackle the different factors hindering food availability and nutrition, the project will enact locally-led and owned change at every stage of the food system – production, aggregation, processing, distribution and consumption – through two complementary supply and demand outcomes:
Outcome 1: Equitable, sustainable, inclusive, productive and nutrition sensitive agricultural value chains in Gicumbi, Rulindo and Gakenke districts are strengthened; and
Outcome 2: The consumption of diverse and nutrient rich foods by vulnerable households, in particular women and children, in Gicumbi, Rulindo and Gakenke district is increased.
The project is targeting 31,000 small holder farmers and will use a holistic set of interventions to enhance food systems in a sustainable manner, equipping women and youth farmers ‘groups and cooperatives within the selected environment and nutrition-sensitive value chains with the skills, connections, and support to improve production and access to markets, and as a result, nutritious food availability and increase its consumption.
Context and needs of justification
One of the project's goals is to promote equitable, sustainable, inclusive, productive, and nutrition-sensitive agricultural value chains in the districts of intervention. To achieve this objective, the project intends to provide beneficiaries with necessary tools and materials to enhance their farming practices, thereby improving the quality and quantity of their produce.
Given this objective, DUHAMIC ADRI plans to procure 3 small-scale technology equipment called a " Movable surface solar pump " to support the farming activities of KUNGAHARA farmer beneficiaries. These initiatives aim to encourage farmers to adopt market-oriented farming practices, enabling them to generate income and diversify food production. The equipment has an objective of providing versatile solution to enhance agricultural productivity, improving water management, and promoting resilience in farming systems.
Scope of Work
The selected firm/company is expected to:
Supply 3 high-quality movable solar-powered irrigation kits complete with solar panels 400 watts set on movable kit preferable Ennos Sunlight pump with the following specifications (Q=45ltrs/min; TDH= 40m; Suction head =8m; Pushing water in 300-400m on flat ground; suitable for demonstration and irrigation purposes.
Supply and deliver the agreed-upon irrigation equipment to the designated locations.
Provide installation services and Offer technical training sessions on the proper use, maintenance, and benefit of the equipment to farmers and local technicians.
Ensure that the supplied equipment is adaptable to the local conditions and meets the specific needs of farmers in the mentioned districts
Expected Deliverables
The expected deliverables from the selected firm/company include:
Supply and installation of 3 high-quality movable solar-powered irrigation pumps complete with solar panels 400 watts set on movable kit preferable Ennos Sunlight pump with the following specifications (Q=45ltrs/min; TDH= 40m; Suction head =8m; Pushing water in 300-400m on flat ground; for demonstration purposes.
Documentation and manuals for equipment operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
Conducting training sessions for farmers on the proper use and benefits of the supplied equipment.
Qualifications and Experience
Interested firms/companies should possess:
Proven experience in supplying solar-powered irrigation equipment.
Demonstrated expertise in providing training and technical support.
Knowledge of local conditions and specific challenges faced by farmers in different regions of Rwanda.
Application
Interested firms/companies are invited to submit their offer contain the following:
Application letter addressed to DUHAMIC-ADRI Executive Secretary;
Copy of the company registration certificate
A valid tax clearance certificate
At least two certificates of good completion for similar services;
Commitment letter to complete the assignment in a period not exceeding 5 calendar days after receiving the purchase order/ contract
A proof to use Electronic Billing Machine (EBM)
Financial proposal (quotations) including all taxes and transport costs
Note that the distribution plan for the 3 solar pumps includes Gicumbi, Rulindo and Gakenke districts.
Bids will be submitted in a sealed envelope and addressed to the Executive Secretary of DUHAMIC-ADRI at Kicukiro head office no later than Monday, April 22, 2024 at 10:00AM
The public opening of bids is scheduled on the same day at 10:15 AM at the headquarters of DUHAMIC-ADRI.
